What happens when you think the super moon will be somewhere it's not and you have the wrong lens on your camera and it disappears faster than you can put on a new lens? Well....

Yesterday evening I was on my way home from a shoot in Virginia and I saw the moon through the metro window. It looked huge!!! So I hopped out of the metro, took an Uber to the Iwo Jima Memorial and set up my camera. A little earlier and the moon would have been a bit more orange and looked a bit larger closer the horizon, but I'm happy to have caught it where I did. It was so bright that I went and looked it up later, and it's called the Hunter's moon. This is because the brightness allows for hunters to hunt later into the night, with their pray lit up by the moon. This was my first good close-up of the moon so I'm pretty stoked about it! Not to mention the weather was perfect - I was in shorts and a sweater. This picture in particular is cool with the airplane in it. As you can see it's a bit of a long exposure, but the moon was so bright that any longer of an exposure and the picture was too bright, and any shorter you wouldn't see the city!

A few weekends ago I got the pleasure of taking photos of a family that heard about me through word of mouth.. I took pictures of Lexi, her husband Ben, and their baby, Dominic. I had taken photos for Lexi's sister's son, Grant, in the past, so it was really cool to take photos of Dominic, his cousin. We went to the Iwo Jima memorial, wandered a bit while taking photos, and took in the nice view of DC!

Proposal photoshoots are probably my favorite to shoot. Roger got a hold of me on Thursday and we met up on Friday at the relfecting pool. Stephanie and Roger said they go on a trip every year during the first week of August, and this one will be a special one for the books! Roger went and scoped out the area on Thursday, and even marked on a map for me exactly where he'd propose. We did a short shoot after the proposal and all went according to plan :) I give extra props to Roger, as he was in a suit and it was probably around 90 degrees plus humidity and I'm sure he had a few nerves firing too! Cheers to Roger and Stephanie!

A couple weekends ago I had the pleasure of photographing Steven's proposal to Brooke down by the canal in Georgetown. The weather was perfect and Steven's timing was impeccable! He told me he'd walk by Baked and Wired at 8:30am, and he and Brooke walked by right on the dot. The proposal went perfectly and I'm so happy I was able to capture it!

Did you know you can take your own passport photo at home with your own camera? I've had people email me in the past about taking a passport photo for them... It's much more economical to take your own! Now just choosing between my candidates, courtesy of Taryn. This was taken with a Canon 60D and 50mm f/1.8 under my sky light! Now if only I could get my hands on some plane tickets...

I met up with Mandy, Matt and baby Celeste and we took advantage of the perfect weather and green grasses for photos. We shot at the park near Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown. I’ve shot there before and it’s a great park for families with a playground, lots of open space, and perfect trees and flowers for photos. We got lucky with some pretty yellow flowers in the park and baby Celeste was a great and smiley model.
